“Nude Geographies” – Official Selection, Praxis Photo Arts Center Exhibition 2021
Our photograph, “The Roots of Beauty,” featuring model Melancholic was selected for display at the Praxis Photo Art Center Exhibition as an official selection for “Nude Geographies,” an international juried photography exhibition with guest curator, Douglas Beasley. The exhibition takes place at the Praxis Photo Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 13-27, 2021 (Opening Reception: Saturday, November 13, 6-8pm). The photograph of model, Melancholic was taken against the roots of a fallen tree near the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. (See rightmost image below in which our photograph is second from the right.)
From the Praxis Gallery:
“The nude form has been portrayed in art throughout history, from the classical era to the enlightenment and the modern era. The nude figure in western art – specifically in photography – has expressed ideals of female and male beauty along with other human qualities including life, energy, and an array of complicated human emotions. Praxis Gallery presents photographic works that explore the nude in any of its varied styles including: figure studies, environmental nudes, implied nudes, explorations of sexuality and erotica – just to name a few of the many iterations of this genre.”
